Located on the North-East corner of McCarren Park, the luncheonette was a soda fountain for decades before closing its doors in 2009. Now with new owners and a renovated interior ( most notably the green wooden bench that spans the entire restaurant), the luncheonette serves new american style cuisine all day long.

The parisian influenced decor creates the perfect background for your weekend brunch, but make sure not to arrive to late as waits do tend to form. The menu is small but punchy, with a very creative take on the classic benedict, sliced freshly baked bread, spinach and/or ham all served in a bowl with potatoes drizzled in hollandaise sauce.

If you are coming here for dinner, you will find an array of delicious pizzas, as well as a classic burger that can stand up against some of the best in the area. While the dinner is good, I do think their brunch stands out among the best of Greenpoint.

Fun Fact: The Luncheonette is in the opening scene of ‘The Departed’, video here.
